DC Fire and EMS personnel were called to the front yard of a home in the 3700 block of Warren Street NW at around noon on April 3, where a man doing plumping work fell into a hole and couldn't get out without a helping hand.

Using ropes and ladders, first responders were able to extricate the man out of the collapsed trench, still alert and conscious.

The worker was evaluated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to an area hospital to be treated for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
